The South Korean women's basketball national team defeated Japan 75-70 to claim the Asian Games championship for the first time in 12 years.

Korea, which had once built up a 19-point lead in the first half, allowed Japan to narrow the gap to just 2 points late in the fourth quarter, but Kang Lee-seul sealed the victory with calm free throws.

Lee Hae-ran scored 24 points and Kang Lee-seul added 21 points to lead the team to the gold medal, while Korean basketball also completed a sweep of both the men's and women's 5x5 titles.
