U.S. President Donald Trump posted a Middle East map on his social media on the 26th local time, which renames the Strait of Hormuz to "TRUMP STRAIT."

This marks President Trump's first reaction since Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi proposed on the 24th, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, that if the U.S. lifts its maritime blockade, exempts Iranian oil export sanctions, and implements a ceasefire on all fronts, Iran would resume negotiations regarding the Strait of Hormuz and its nuclear program within seven days.

The posting of this map is interpreted as a signal that President Trump rejects Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz and also refuses Iran's proposal.

Previously, President Trump has asserted U.S. control over the strait, including posting a map in August designating the Strait of Hormuz as "New U.S. Territory."
