The South Korean men's saber fencing team has advanced to the final of the Asian Games team event.

Only one match remains for the team to achieve its fourth consecutive Asian Games title.

The men's saber team, consisting of Oh Sang-uk, Park Sang-won (both from Daejeon Metropolitan City Council), Do Kyung-dong (Daegu Metropolitan City Council), and Hwang Hee-geun (Korea National Sport University), defeated Hong Kong 45-24 in the tournament's semifinals held at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on the 26th.

South Korea is aiming for its fourth straight men's saber team title at the Asian Games, following victories at Incheon 2014, Jakarta-Palembang 2018, and the 2022 Hangzhou Games held in 2023.

The final is scheduled to take place at 6:20 PM, where South Korea will face the winner of the match between Japan and Kazakhstan.

Oh Sang-uk, the individual event champion of this tournament, is also looking to secure his second consecutive double crown at the Asian Games following the Hangzhou Games.

Fencing team events determine their brackets based on seeds assigned according to each country's individual event results, competing in a single-elimination tournament for the title.

Seeded first, South Korea received a bye in the Round of 16 and defeated India 45-25 in the quarterfinals.

In the semifinal against Hong Kong, South Korea took an early lead when Park Sang-won beat Hugo Ho 5-2. Oh Sang-uk then extended the lead to 10-5 in the second round against Aaron Ho, and Do Kyung-dong further widened the gap to 15-9 in the third round against Royce Chan, leading to a comfortable victory.

The women's foil team, featuring Park Ji-hee, Shim So-eun (both from Seoul Metropolitan Government), Mo Byeol-i (Yeongjong-gu Office, Incheon), and Lee Se-ju (Chungcheongbuk-do Provincial Government), also advanced to the final by defeating China 43-35 in their semifinal match.

South Korea, which achieved five consecutive titles in this event from Bangkok 1998 to Incheon 2014, settled for a bronze medal at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games and a silver medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Games held in 2023, but now has the opportunity to reclaim the top spot after 12 years.

The women's foil team will face Japan in the final scheduled for 5:20 PM.
