The man in his 30s who broke into the home of singer and actor Nana to commit robbery, only to be subdued by her instead, has now been put on trial on charges of false accusation.

The Criminal Division 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office indicted 34-year-old A without detention on the 16th.

A is currently on trial after breaking into Nana's home in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, in November of last year armed with a weapon to demand money, only to be subdued and arrested by Nana and her mother.

During the process of subduing A, Nana and her mother sustained injuries requiring 33 and 31 days of medical treatment, respectively.

A subsequently filed a false complaint with the police for attempted murder and other charges, claiming that "Nana stabbed me with a weapon that was inside the house and tried to bribe me by saying she would give me 40 million won if I claimed I brought the weapon myself." In response, Nana filed a countersuit against A for false accusation.

This additional indictment is a measure taken in response to A's false complaint.

The Namyangju Branch received the case from the police in April and transferred it on the 11th to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, which has jurisdiction over the Seoul Detention Center where A is currently detained.

Based on statements from the victims and the forensic analysis of A's mobile phone, the prosecution conducted supplementary investigations. They reportedly concluded that the charge of false accusation was established against A by gathering related circumstances, including a statement from a fellow detainee in the police station holding cell who reported that A said, "I brought the weapon to the victim's residence."

Previously, A was sentenced to 7 years in prison by the court of first instance on charges of robbery resulting in injury.

In the appellate trial, the prosecution demanded a 10-year prison sentence, the same as in the first trial, with the second-instance ruling scheduled for the 22nd of next month.
