The South Korean men's marathon team failed to win a medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Park Min-ho (Korea Armed Forces Athletic Corps) finished the 42.195-kilometer full marathon in 2 hours, 15 minutes, and 35 seconds on the road course in Nagoya, Japan today (26th), placing 8th among 19 competing athletes.

He remained in the leading group until the 15-kilometer mark before slipping back around the 20-kilometer point.

Kim Hong-rok (Korea Electric Power Corporation), who competed alongside him, finished 10th with a time of 2 hours, 18 minutes, and 27 seconds.

Ichitaka Yamashita of Japan won the race with a time of 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 49 seconds, while the silver medal went to Sawan Barwal of India (2 hours, 11 minutes, and 37 seconds), and the bronze medal was claimed by Peng Feiyu of China (2 hours, 12 minutes, and 13 seconds).

Han Il-ryong of North Korea, who won the silver medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, finished 4th with a time of 2 hours, 12 minutes, and 21 seconds.

The last time South Korea won a medal in the men's marathon at the Asian Games was when Ji Young-jun won the gold medal at the 2010 Guangzhou Games.

The women's marathon, held at the same time, also failed to yield any medals.

Choi Kyung-sun (Jecheon City Hall) finished 12th among 17 completing runners with a time of 2 hours, 41 minutes, and 31 seconds, while Lim Ye-jin (Chungju City Hall) finished 16th in 2 hours, 58 minutes, and 16 seconds.

Shitaye Eshete of Bahrain won the race after crossing the finish line in 2 hours, 27 minutes, and 31 seconds.

China's Caireng Cuomu took the silver medal with 2 hours, 27 minutes, and 43 seconds, and Japan's Mikuni Yada won the bronze with 2 hours, 27 minutes, and 56 seconds.

North Korea's Pak Sol-gyong finished 6th in 2 hours, 30 minutes, and 41 seconds, and Jon Su-gyong placed 7th in 2 hours, 31 minutes, and 48 seconds.
