A fire broke out at a building housing an obstetrics and gynecology hospital in Pungsan-dong, Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, at around 12:21 AM today (September 26).

The fire originated on the 8th floor of the 8-story building, which houses a lounge and a laundry room, and was completely extinguished in about 20 minutes.

While there were no casualties, more than 60 people, including mothers and babies at the 5th-floor obstetrics and gynecology hospital and the 6th-to-7th-floor postpartum care centers, evacuated the building.

The fire is initially presumed to have started in a washing machine or a dryer.

Police and firefighting authorities plan to conduct a joint on-site inspection on the 28th to investigate the exact cause of the fire.
