U.S. President Donald Trump has rejected a "7-day plan" proposal put forward by Iran, the U.S. daily The Wall Street Journal reported.

President Trump remains skeptical of the truce proposal presented by Iran and has left open the possibility of resuming strikes against Iran following the U.S. midterm elections in November, according to U.S. officials.

This report comes shortly after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi proposed the so-called "7-day plan" ceasefire proposal on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Iran stated that if conditions are met, such as the U.S. ending hostile activities across all fronts, navigation in the Strait of Hormuz would resume within seven days.

However, President Trump is skeptical whether Iran will meet his demands and told aides that bombing operations against Iran are likely to resume, the officials added.

Earlier, Minister Araghchi met with reporters at the UN Headquarters in New York and stated that he had proposed a plan to the U.S. involving the opening of the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for lifting sanctions against Iran.
