A fire broke out at a building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on Chuseok day and was extinguished in about an hour.

At around 7:20 PM today (the 25th), a report was received that a fire had broken out on the second-floor balcony of a detached house in Hongji-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

Fire authorities deployed about 80 personnel and some 20 pieces of equipment, putting out the fire at around 8:20 PM.

It was confirmed that a woman in her 60s residing at the house suffered burns from the fire and received treatment at a hospital.

Police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause, focusing on the possibility that the fire was caused by a cigarette butt.
