U.S. President Donald Trump stated on the 24th (local time) that during his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, they would discuss "urgent issues related to security, technology, and superintelligence."

Speaking at a state arrival ceremony held at the White House for President Xi, President Trump made these remarks and added, "The decisions we make in these areas today can promote peace and prosperity for decades to come."

President Trump went on to emphasize, "I am confident that if we focus on our mutual interests, there is much we can achieve in history."

Noting that "President Xi and I have made tremendous progress by cooperating on the challenges facing both countries," President Trump mentioned the formation of the U.S.-China Trade Commission agreed upon during his visit to Beijing last May.

He also stated, "Our two countries have worked to foster a more balanced trade relationship, including new market access for American farmers and ranchers."

Showing off their close ties, President Trump said he has built "a truly wonderful friendship" with President Xi since he was first elected U.S. president in 2016, adding, "We have spent time together all over the world—in Germany, Argentina, Japan, South Korea, Beijing, and Palm Beach, Florida."

President Trump also shared that he plans to visit the National Archives with President Xi on the 25th.

"President Xi and the First Lady are visiting at an important milestone: the 250th anniversary of America's founding," Trump said, noting that they plan to view "some of the greatest treasures of our proud history, including the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights" at the National Archives.
