Regarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's statement that two captured North Korean prisoners of war have been sent to South Korea, the Kremlin spokesperson stated that he has no information on the matter.

According to Russia's RIA Novosti news agency on the 24th (local time), Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov answered when asked whether he had any information regarding the North Korean prisoners' relocation to South Korea, saying, "We do not have any information regarding this."

He added, "The issue of prisoners of war falls under the purview of our Ministry of Defense and intelligence agencies," and noted that "contacts at the intelligence agency level are ongoing."

President Zelenskyy abruptly revealed the day before during his speech at the UN General Assembly held in New York, USA, that two North Korean prisoners of war captured by the Ukrainian military had recently been sent to South Korea.

Without denying the North Korean prisoners' arrival in South Korea, the South Korean government effectively confirmed it while maintaining a low-key stance.

The two North Korean prisoners of war were reportedly captured by the Ukrainian military in the Kursk region of Russia in January of last year.

Their existence became known when President Zelenskyy disclosed the capture on social media.

The South Korean government has maintained its stance that it will accept the North Korean prisoners of war, who are considered South Korean citizens under the Constitution, as they have expressed their intent to defect through media interviews and North Korean refugee organizations.
