South Korean shooter Hong Su-hyeon (Gangwon State Office) has wrapped up his first-ever Asian Games in fourth place.

On the 24th, Hong shot 198.4 points in the final of the men's 10m air pistol individual event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games held at the Aichi Prefectural Shooting Range in Japan, ranking fourth among eight finalists.

Vladimir Svechnikov of Uzbekistan won the gold medal with a new Asian Games record of 244.3 points.

The previous Asian Games record was 240.7 points set by Saurabh Chaudhary of India at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games.

Fukai (243.0 points) and Bu Shuaihang (222.1 points, both from China) claimed the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Hong, who qualified for the final in eighth place, scored 49.2 points in his first five shots to sit in sixth place, and dropped to seventh with a total of 98.8 points after 10 shots.

He began his counterattack once single-shot elimination rounds commenced.

Moving up one notch with a total of 118.7 points after 12 shots, Hong recorded 159.3 points up to his 16th shot, leaping into a tie for fourth place with Valeriy Rakhimjan of Kazakhstan.

Shooting 10.2 and 9.2 in the following two shots, Hong reached a total of 178.7 points after 18 shots, edging past Rakhimjan (177.6 points) to continue his medal contention.

However, in the next two shots deciding entry into the medal zone, he managed only 9.6 and 10.1 points.

As Bu Shuaihang recorded 10.6 and 10.1 points in the same section, Hong finished with a 20-shot total of 198.4 points, falling 2.9 points behind Bu (201.3 points) to end up in fourth place.

Hong, who won a gold medal at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Munich World Cup and a silver medal at the Hangzhou World Cup earlier this year, failed to reach the podium at his debut Asian Games.
