A major fire that broke out at a cosmetics manufacturing plant in Incheon has been fully extinguished after 16 hours.

According to the Incheon Fire Headquarters, fire authorities completely put out the blaze at around 1:49 PM today, 16 hours after it started at a cosmetics manufacturing factory in Oryu-dong, Geomdan-gu, Incheon, at around 9:45 PM yesterday.

While there were no casualties, thick black smoke spread as far as Gwanak-gu and Gangseo-gu in the southwestern part of Seoul, prompting a flurry of 119 emergency calls to fire authorities.

As the fire spread to neighboring factories, it is estimated that more than six buildings sustained damage.

Fire authorities previously issued Response Stage 1, a local alert mobilizing all personnel from the jurisdiction's fire station, deploying 189 firefighters and 100 pieces of equipment to bring the flames under control.

Once cleanup operations at the scene are completed, fire authorities plan to investigate the exact scale of the damage and the cause of the fire.
