Fencing star Oh Sang-uk (Daejeon Metropolitan City Hall) has claimed the South Korean delegation's 8th gold medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Oh won the gold medal today (the 23rd) by defeating China's Shen Chenpeng 15-13 in the men's individual sabre final held at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

This marks the South Korean delegation's 8th gold medal of the current tournament and the second "golden thrust" in fencing, following Song Se-ra (Busan Metropolitan City Hall), who won the women's individual epee the previous day.

Oh successfully defended his men's individual sabre title following his victory at the 2022 Hangzhou Games held in 2023.

Following Gu Bon-gil, who achieved a three-peat at the 2010 Guangzhou, 2014 Incheon, and 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games, Oh reached the top for the second consecutive time, allowing South Korea to maintain its supremacy in the men's individual sabre event for the 5th consecutive Asian Games.
