Kim Se-eui, head of the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute who is currently on trial and in custody on charges including defamation of actor Kim Soo-hyun, is facing foreclosure proceedings on his stake in an apartment located in Apgujeong-dong's Hanyang Apartment complex in Seoul.

The Seoul Central District Court decided on September 17 to initiate foreclosure proceedings on the real estate registered under Kim's name.

The property subject to the filing is a unit at Hanyang Apartment in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

The foreclosure was initiated upon an application by attorney Kim So-yeon, who claimed she has not received a total of approximately 120 million won in legal fees and other expenses from Kim.

The claim amount requested in this foreclosure is 47 million won.

Appearing on a YouTube broadcast, attorney Kim claimed that corporate and personal debts exist due to unpaid legal fees incurred by the detained representative Kim.

Attorney Kim stated that she had accumulated unpaid balances by taking only half of the legal fees for various cases handled for Kim, but failed to receive the money even after the deadlines had passed.

Previously, attorney Kim applied for compulsory enforcement based on a payment order issued by the Daejeon District Court.

However, multiple senior liens have already been registered on this apartment.

According to the registry, prior to attorney Kim's claim, records show bank mortgages, a provisional seizure on Kim Se-eui's stake set by Gold Medalist, the agency representing actor Kim Soo-hyun, and a seizure by the Gangnam Tax Office due to unpaid national taxes.

The total amount of claims registered on the property amounts to approximately 8.07 billion won.

The apartment in question was recorded as having been acquired in 1986 by Kim's late father, former MBC President Kim Young-soo.

Following the passing of the former president in August 2024, it was confirmed that Kim Se-eui and his elder sister inherited half of the apartment's stake each.

Previously, actor Kim Soo-hyun's agency Gold Medalist filed a complaint against Kim and the bereaved family of the late Kim Sae-ron on charges including violations of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes and defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, and also filed a damage suit worth 12 billion won.

On September 10, the Crime Proceeds Recovery Department of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office determined through tracking donation accounts and questioning related parties of the company operated by Kim that the criminal proceeds acquired through the defamation of Kim Soo-hyun amount to a total of 169.4 million won—including at least 54.4 million won in donations and at least 115 million won in advertising revenue—and completed the registration of preservation for confiscation on land owned by Kim.
