Independence activists are truly precious figures to us.

Given that, it seems their historic home sites and other related places should be well preserved.

However, the reality is quite different.

A photo showing garbage bags piled up around a marker designating the home site of an independence activist has been revealed, drawing widespread dismay.

It reads "Home Site of Kim Ga-jin."

It appears there are garbage bags and cardboard boxes surrounding this marker.

The inscription on the marker states that Kim Ga-jin was a patriotic enlightenment politician who went into exile in China after the March 1st Independence Movement to carry out independence activities and passed away in Shanghai, but the garbage bags placed right next to it are lamentable.

A netizen who took this photo on the streets of Seochon in Seoul said they felt heartbroken, thinking, "The independence activist's home is gone, and the marker must have been erected just to remember it, but do they really have to leave and collect garbage right there?"

Other netizens reacted with comments such as "It is upsetting" and "This is a shameful reality."

The point that the competent local government needs to step up management, such as by installing fences around the area, is also worth considering.
