Ukraine plans to receive over 1 trillion won in loan support from the World Bank (WB) backed by a guarantee from Canada.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on social media on the 22nd (local time) that he has "secured 841 million dollars (approximately 1.14 trillion won) through the World Bank."

He added, "These funds will be used to reimburse national budget expenditures used for pension payments."

With this loan, the scale of the World Bank's Ukraine loan project, "PEACE in Ukraine," has increased to 54.3 billion dollars (approximately 73 trillion won).

This is a financial support project designed to enable Ukraine to continue essential public services such as pensions, education, and healthcare even during the war.

Ukraine is also preparing joint projects with the World Bank in six areas: energy efficiency, housing policy, waste management, agricultural support, statistics, and digitalization.
