San Francisco Giants starting outfielder Lee Jung-hoo's 2026 season has come to an end.

Major League Baseball (MLB) club San Francisco announced today (September 22, Korea Standard Time) that Lee has been placed on the 10-day injured list (IL).

Sitting fourth in the National League West with a record of 64 wins and 92 losses, San Francisco has been eliminated from the postseason with six games remaining in the regular season.

Even if Lee returns after ten days, the schedule makes it difficult for him to play in the remaining games of this season.

Lee was substituted out yesterday during an away game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, after being hit in the groin by his own batted ball. A post-game examination diagnosed him with a contusion requiring rest.

He appeared in 143 games this season, recording a batting average of 0.276, 10 home runs, 57 RBIs, 65 runs scored, 12 stolen bases, an on-base percentage of 0.320, and a slugging percentage of 0.404.

Although he wrote strong records in the middle of the season, competing near the top of the league's batting rankings, his momentum slowed down in the latter half of the season, resulting in a somewhat disappointing scorecard.

His batting average, home runs, RBIs, and stolen bases are his best figures since advancing to MLB in the 2024 season.

His batting average ranks 17th in the National League.

However, his on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS (0.724), which combines the two, dropped compared to last season's 0.735.
