An SUV crashed into a convenience store in Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province, destroying part of the building. The driver in his 70s stated that he caused the accident after confusing the brake and accelerator pedals.

Half of an SUV is wedged inside a convenience store, leaving the interior in ruins.

At around 6:50 PM yesterday (September 21), an SUV driven by a man in his 70s, surnamed A, crashed into a convenience store building on Chilcheondo Island in Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province.

[Convenience Store Employee: I briefly stepped away while organizing items, which is how (I survived). There is even a curb there, and the car just drove right over it.]

The accident partially damaged the building and fixtures, but fortunately, no one was injured.

Driver A reportedly told police that he confused the brake and accelerator pedals while attempting to park in front of the convenience store building.

Police confirmed that the incident did not involve drunk driving or driving without a license, and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.

Two vehicles came to a stop after colliding on the shoulder of a fast-moving expressway.

At around 7:10 PM yesterday, near the Cheongju Junction on the Gyeongbu Expressway heading toward Busan, a 13.5-ton cargo truck collided with an SUV traveling in an adjacent lane.

No one was injured in the accident, but a hair-raising situation occurred when the SUV driver stepped out of the vehicle while the gear was still in drive, causing the car to roll into the middle of the road.

At around 10:10 PM last night, a fire broke out at the No. 1 plant of the Seokpo Smelter in Bonghwa, North Gyeongsang Province, burning conveyor belts and other items before being extinguished after about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

There were no casualties, and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
