The national baseball team, led by manager Ryu Ji-hyun, made a strong start by defeating Taiwan 5-0 in their Group B opener at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Team captain Noh Si-hwan expressed confidence in the national team growing even stronger following their opening win, stating, "They are a truly scary team once they catch momentum."

Praising Kwak Bin, who pitched a stellar game with 10 strikeouts and no runs allowed over 6 innings, Noh remarked, "He struck out so many batters that we rarely had to field any balls," praising his performance as that of a "national team ace."
