Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has directly refuted warnings from some circles that artificial intelligence could wipe out humanity within a few years, calling them "exaggerated doomsday theories."

In an interview with CBS News in the U.S., Huang said, "2030 will not be the end of the world. The probability of that is zero," adding that "scaring people is unnecessary and irresponsible."

He also argued that doomsday theories are not grounded in science.

"We never release products that are not safe," Huang said, adding, "Everyone wants us to do well and make America more prosperous."

He also expressed opposition to new regulations, arguing that existing laws such as product liability laws and cybersecurity-related regulations are sufficient.

When asked about Nvidia's business interests, he replied, "Our company's success is directly tied to the safe deployment of our products and services."

Huang's remarks came amid ongoing calls from both inside and outside the industry to slow down the pace of AI development.

Previously, Jacob Coxon, who formerly worked at OpenAI and Anthropic, stated on the day he resigned that "AI developers seriously believe that AI could kill us all before the end of this decade."

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei also argued on September 12 that AI companies should slow down their development pace.

He also proposed that external evaluators be stationed inside AI companies to inspect systems and model training processes at the same level as employees.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk have also publicly agreed.

On the other hand, U.S. President Donald Trump pushed back on Truth Social on September 14, calling claims that AI would take over the world and destroy humanity a "hoax."
