The South Korean women's 3x3 basketball national team has made a smooth start to the tournament by claiming two consecutive wins on the first day of the group stage.

On September 21, South Korea defeated Thailand and Indonesia in succession during their first and second Group D matches of the women's 3x3 basketball tournament at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, held at the special court near Kinshuto Station in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

Building on the momentum of the men's national team, which captured a gold medal for the first time in 12 years the previous day, the squad aims to extend their winning streak onto the 3x3 court and contend for a medal.

The opening match against Thailand was a thrilling 13-12 nail-biter.

South Korea struggled early against Thailand's intense pressure, but tied the game at 9-9 following a 2-point shot by Heo Yu-jung.

Locked in a tight seesaw battle until the very end, South Korea broke a 12-12 tie with 11.5 seconds remaining when Heo Yu-jung scored a dramatic winning basket and successfully defended the final play to secure their first victory.

Riding that momentum, South Korea dominated their second match against Indonesia, winning by a landslide score of 21-4.

Choi Ye-seul and Heo Yu-jung widened the gap early by sinking consecutive 2-point shots.

Pulling ahead to 16-3 with about three minutes left in the game and effectively sealing the victory, South Korea comfortably wrapped up the match.

The men's and women's 3x3 basketball events at this tournament run from September 21 to September 25 at the special court near Kinshuto Station.

The women's division features 16 countries divided into four groups for the group stage.

The first-place team in each group advances directly to the quarterfinals, while the second and third-place teams compete in a play-in stage for the remaining quarterfinal berths.
