President Lee Jae-myung stated, "I am reflecting once again on the will of the sovereign people who created our administration," adding, "I will deliberate more deeply on what the public needs most and refine state affairs with greater detail and in a humbler posture."

President Lee made the remarks today (September 21) while presiding over a meeting of senior secretaries and aides at Cheong Wa Dae, stating, "As the person in charge of state affairs, I feel a heavy sense of responsibility regarding voices from the public that improvements in economic indicators are not sufficiently translating into tangible changes in people's livelihoods."

He then promised, "Cheong Wa Dae and the government will join forces to qualitatively transform people's lives."

President Lee also said, "Reform is inherently about coordinating conflicting interests, so groups that previously benefited are bound to push back," adding, "If we consider resistance too deeply, we cannot change anything."

Yet, he emphasized, "While creating as much change as possible, we must show utmost consideration and respect for those who face disadvantages as a result. We must coordinate interests as smoothly and quietly as possible."

President Lee said, "To those who have no choice but to face disadvantages, I ask for a little concession for a better Republic of Korea," adding, "To those who wish to see massive change all at once, while I understand their feelings, I would like to say that they must also consider the other side's position."

He added, "My administration and I will consistently see (reform) through without losing our initial resolve, just as we promised the people."

Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, President Lee said, "Please take meticulous care to ensure there is not the slightest lapse in public safety during the holiday period, including in traffic, public security, fire prevention, and emergency medical care."

In particular, President Lee urged, "There must never be unfair situations where people sweat and work hard but fail to receive their wages on time," emphasizing that "everyone must pick up the pace toward a society of 'zero wage arrears.'"
