The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) announced plans to arrange support so that the national teqball team, which won the country's first-ever gold medal in the sport at the Asian Games, can train at the Jincheon National Training Center.

Teqball is a sport played by hitting a football back and forth across a specially curved table, and it made its debut as an official medal event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

South Korea secured its first-ever gold medal yesterday when Lee Jun-seok defeated Iraq's Zamil Mezher Alelayawi 2-0 in the men's singles final.

As a little-known sport, teqball national team athletes had to prepare for competitions virtually on their own, with some even having to give up their livelihoods to participate in the Asian Games.

The KSOC stated, "Ahead of the Asian Games, we considered admitting teqball athletes to the Jincheon National Training Center for training, but it was not possible due to difficulties in securing space as athletes preparing for the games were concentrated there."

KSOC President Yoo Seung-min, who visited the final venue to cheer on Lee Jun-seok and celebrate his gold medal victory, said, "We will come up with ways for the athletes to utilize the training environment at the Jincheon National Training Center so that teqball can grow further."
