Director Lee Chang-dong has shared the message behind "Possible Love," his first new film in eight years.

Attending the press and distribution screening for the film "Possible Love" held at Yongsan CGV in Seoul on the afternoon of the 21st, Director Lee responded thoughtfully when asked about the message he wanted to convey through the movie, saying, "It is difficult to sum up what I wanted to say in just a couple of words. If I had to say, rather than talking simply and easily about the reality we live in—not just Korean society, but today's world—I wanted to approach it on multiple levels. The world we live in is not that simple. It conceals various complex aspects, and I felt we could talk about those things together with the audience."

He went on to emphasize, "In some ways, this film might look like a story about dismissed workers, class conflict, the ethics and attitude of filmmaking, or human relationships. I made it because I wanted audiences to feel, think, and share questions together through the stories of two couples across these multiple layers."

"Possible Love" follows a dismissed worker and his wife, as well as a documentary director and her husband, as two couples meet to make a documentary and confront each other's different lives and hidden desires. It is Director Lee's first new release in eight years since "Burning" (2018), reuniting him with his longtime muses Sul Kyung-gu and Jeon Do-yeon while marking his first collaboration with Cho Yeo-jeong and Zo In-sung.

The film will be available in theaters starting September 23.
