The preliminaries for the men's 800-meter freestyle relay were held today (the 21st) at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre in Japan.

The defending champion men's 800-meter freestyle relay team, aiming for their second consecutive title at the Games, easily advanced to the finals even while resting key swimmers Kim Woo-min and Hwang Sun-woo (both of Gangwon State Government Office).

Diving in in the order of Kim Min-seop (Gyeongbuk Provincial Council), Yang Jae-hoon, Kim Jun-woo (both of Gangwon State Council), and Lee Ho-jun (Jeju City Hall), they combined for a time of 7:14.35 to finish third overall.
