Following a smooth start with Ban Hyo-jin winning a bronze medal on the opening day, the South Korean shooting team kept up the momentum by capturing a bronze medal in the men's 10m air rifle team event.

The national team, consisting of Park Ha-jun (KT), Shin Mingi (Changwon City Hall), and Kwon Hyub-jun (Seosan City Hall), combined for a total score of 1,884.2 points in the team event, which was held concurrently with the individual qualification round for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Range in Japan on the 21st, finishing third behind China (1,899.0 points) and India (1,890.1 points).

China claimed the gold medal by breaking its own previous world record of 1,898.4 points, which it had set at the 2025 World Championships in Cairo.

Park Ha-jun recorded the highest score among the South Korean shooters with 631.4 points, while Shin Mingi shot 629.2 points and Kwon Hyub-jun scored 623.6 points.

South Korea has now won a team medal in this event for the second consecutive time, following the silver medal it earned at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.


In the individual competition, Park Ha-jun and Shin Mingi both advanced to the finals.

Park Ha-jun secured his ticket to the final round, restricted to the top eight shooters, by finishing fourth overall.

Sheng Lihao (635.4 points, China), Du Linshu (633.0 points, China), and Rudranknash Patil (631.8 points, India) took the top three spots in the preliminaries.

Shin Mingi finished ninth overall, but advanced to the finals under the rule allowing a maximum of only two shooters per country to compete in the final round.

As Chinese athletes claimed first, second, and fifth places, Zhang Changhong (630.6 points, fifth place), who had the lowest rank among them, was excluded from the finals, passing the qualification slot down to the next eligible athlete, Shin Mingi.

Kwon Hyub-jun placed 28th and failed to reach the finals.

Park Ha-jun, who won silver medals in both the individual and team events at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, will now pursue an individual medal for the second consecutive time.

The individual final will take place at 12:30 PM today.
