Writer Rhyu Si-min, a prominent commentator aligned with the ruling bloc, raised an issue regarding President Lee Jae-myung's remark at a press conference describing the use of derogatory labels within the progressive camp as a "heartbreaking reality," saying, "He does not seem to be diagnosing the situation as it is."
In a video of "Tak Hyun-min's The Beautiful" released on YouTube today (September 20), Writer Rhyu likened the use of derogatory terms to "a pebble in a shoe," saying, "When you walk along a dirt path and a small pebble gets under the sole of your foot, it is extremely uncomfortable." He added, "Then you should take it out, shake it off, and keep going, but it seems like he does not realize a pebble got in and is in a state of just thinking, 'It is simply uncomfortable.'"
He also said, "That has caused the president immense pain and politically isolated him," adding, "Yet I feel like he will just keep walking with small pebbles under the soles of his feet."
He continued, "I did not put the stone in; I merely pointed out that a stone was in there," pointing out, "Even now, if he shakes out his shoes, takes out the stone, and walks again, he could easily reach the destination he originally intended to go to. But someone next to him is saying, 'It is because of him that walking is difficult right now.'"
Likening prosecution reform to shoes, Writer Rhyu said, "I view it as him unavoidably walking in shoes that the public made him wear," adding, "There are times when one inevitably has to wear uncomfortable shoes."
