▲ Firefighters conduct containment operations after a fire broke out at a factory in Jori-eup, Paju-si, Gyeonggi Province, prompting the fire authorities to issue a Level 1 response on the morning of the 20th.

A fire broke out at a factory in Jori-eup, Paju, Gyeonggi Province, at around 11:40 a.m. today (the 20th), with the major flames brought under control in 1 hour and 50 minutes.

The fire has reportedly burned down four buildings made of sandwich panels so far, with no casualties reported.

As a large amount of combustible materials, such as wood, remains inside the factory, it is expected to take more time to completely extinguish the remaining embers.

Concerned about the fire spreading, the fire authorities issued a Level 1 response at around 12:30 p.m. and mobilized 26 pieces of equipment and 65 firefighters to carry out extinguishing operations.

Police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the incident and the scale of property damage once the remaining embers are fully extinguished.
