A fire broke out at a mountainous area in Imok-dong, Jangan-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, at around 12:00 PM today (September 20).
Responding to a report from a witness stating that smoke was visible from the mountain, fire authorities dispatched 13 pieces of equipment, including a helicopter, and 30 personnel, including firefighters, to conduct firefighting operations.
So far, no casualties have been reported from the fire.
Following the outbreak, the city of Suwon sent out an emergency alert text message notifying residents of a ban on entering the mountain, urging nearby residents and hikers to be cautious of safety accidents.
Fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire once the flames are fully extinguished.
