▲ Purchasing KTX Tickets
Starting next month, railway tickets such as the KTX will be available for booking up to two months before departure.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Korail (Korea Railroad Corporation) announced that starting October 1, the advance booking period for railway tickets will be expanded from the previous one month to two months prior to departure to enhance travel convenience.
This measure is designed to allow domestic and international tourists to purchase train tickets in advance while planning their trips.
While foreign tourists often purchase airline tickets two months or more before departure, railway tickets could previously be booked only one month in advance, causing inconvenience in planning domestic travel itineraries.
As the use of railways by foreign tourists has been increasing rapidly, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is also improving related services.
The webpage for foreigners currently supports seven languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese. The ministry plans to add French, German, and Mongolian by the end of this year, increasing the number of supported languages to ten.
Additionally, systems are currently being developed to allow ticket purchases using Chinese mobile payment services WeChat Pay and Alipay, in addition to overseas credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, and UnionPay.
