The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced that it will implement special port operation measures during the upcoming Chuseok holiday from September 24 to 27 to ensure that import and export companies and shipping lines can use ports smoothly.

To support the entry and departure of vessels during the holiday, the Port-Management Information System (PORT-MIS) will operate normally, and management personnel will be on standby 24 hours a day to respond to emergencies such as system failures.

Services essential for vessel operations, such as tugboat and pilot services as well as the supply of ship fuel and provisions, will also be provided without disruption.

For import and export cargo, normal loading and unloading services will be provided throughout the holiday period, excluding Chuseok day itself.

Even on Chuseok day, if there are requests to handle cargo critical to the national economy and industrial activities, such as essential industrial resources, emergency support will be provided to prevent any disruptions in cargo processing.

To prevent potential port safety accidents during the holiday, a special port safety inspection period will also be operated from September 14 to 23.

Port security and guard services will operate normally during the holiday period.

The Ministry plans to block various security incidents, such as terrorism and maritime smuggling, through a seamless cooperative system with related organizations.

In addition, special situation rooms will be operated for each port, and a cooperative network will be maintained by posting contact information for port operation-related companies on the websites of 11 regional oceans and fisheries administrations and 4 port corporations.
