Police announced that the time it takes for local governments to issue preliminary notices of administrative disposition following police crackdowns on illegal adult PC rooms has significantly decreased.

The average period dropped from 42.2 days to 6.2 days. Police explained that this is the result of initially applying a "fast track" system that immediately hands over crackdown facts to local governments so that administrative disposition procedures can begin before investigations are concluded.

The Korean National Police Agency announced today (September 20) that it cracked down on a total of 387 illegal adult PC rooms during an intensive three-week operation.

This represents a 22% increase compared to last year. Police arrested 7 individuals, including operators and masterminds, and notified local governments of 607 violations, such as breaches of facility standards.

Previously, preliminary notices for administrative dispositions were issued after undergoing police investigation and local government re-investigation following the police's notification of a crackdown.

However, during this process, cases arose where business owners voluntarily closed down or changed their business names to resume operations, drawing criticism.

In response, police changed the procedure starting from this crackdown so that specific details of violations are immediately notified to local governments, allowing them to promptly proceed with preliminary notices.

The amount of asset confiscation and preservation before indictment surged from 60 million won last year to 5.2 billion won this year, and tax data reported to the National Tax Service also increased from 58 billion won to 416 billion won.

Alongside this, police blocked 7 illegal sites and agreed with the Game Rating and Administration Committee to shorten the site blocking procedure, which typically took over 20 days, to within 5 days starting from September 11.
