A resident who set fire to the rooftop of a multi-family housing building has been arrested by the police.

The Incheon Michuhol Police Station announced today (September 20) that it has arrested a man in his 50s, designated as A, on-site on charges of arson of an inhabited building for setting fire to the rooftop of the multi-family residence where he lives.

A is suspected of setting fire to stored items, including a tent, placed on the rooftop of a four-story multi-family housing building in Juan-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon, at around 6:10 AM yesterday.

While there were no casualties or evacuations due to the fire, the rooftop floor was scorched and the wiring for an air conditioner outdoor unit was destroyed.

The fire was extinguished in about 10 minutes by fire authorities who were dispatched following a report from a neighbor.

Police plan to investigate A regarding the motive for the crime.
