Over the weekend, people are preparing for a flea market event at a park in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province.

A 1-ton truck suddenly charges in, sweeping away people and equipment.

The vehicle, which began accelerating rapidly from the road, plowed into the people preparing for the event here, turning the scene into chaos.

[Bae Byeong-hwa / Apartment Security Guard (First Reporter): The car suddenly just went like a jet. With a swishing sound. It happened not long after the engine started. It just shot right this way and plowed through everything.]

In this accident, a woman in her 40s and her teenage son were taken to the hospital in a state of cardiac arrest and ultimately passed away.

Five others also received treatment for bone fractures or breathing difficulties.

The man in his 60s who caused the accident is a fixed-term worker at the Anseong City Hall, and he was in the middle of transporting second-hand goods to the event venue hosted by the city.

The driver is claiming that the vehicle experienced sudden unintended acceleration.

Police have launched an investigation into the exact circumstances of the accident based on eyewitness accounts and surrounding CCTV footage, and Anseong City also plans to conduct its own investigation.

At around 8:45 AM today, a 3.5-ton cargo truck rear-ended an SUV on the Sejong-Pocheon Expressway in Yongin.

A married brother-and-sister couple and their spouses were riding in the SUV. Two women in their 50s and 40s who were in the back seat died, and two men, including the driver, sustained serious injuries.
