A fire broke out at a detached house in Mulcheon-ri, Cheonbuk-myeon, Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, at around 12:30 PM today (September 19), injuring two people, including a firefighter and an octogenarian resident who were involved in the response work.

Responding to the report, the fire authorities mobilized 43 personnel and 15 pieces of equipment, including fire engines, to battle the blaze.

During the operation, part of the house collapsed, trapping a firefighter at the scene under a pile of debris. The firefighter was rescued and rushed to a hospital.

The injured firefighter's life is reportedly not in danger.

The fire was completely extinguished at around 3:00 PM after burning a portion of the house and an outer annex located in the yard.

Fire authorities are currently investigating the exact cause and circumstances of the fire.
