At around 8:45 AM today (September 19), a 3.5-ton cargo truck driven by a person in their 60s, surnamed A, collided with an SUV traveling ahead in the third lane near the Pogok 1 Tunnel on the Sejong-bound Sejong-Pocheon Expressway in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.

The crash left two women in their 50s and 40s who were riding in the back seat of the SUV in cardiac arrest; they were transported to a hospital but died.

Two others, including the SUV driver in their 50s and a man in their 40s in the passenger seat, were also found to have been injured. It was reported that the occupants were two pairs of siblings and their spouses.

Police believe that the truck driver, A, failed to notice the congested traffic ahead due to a lack of forward attention and caused the accident, and are currently investigating the exact circumstances.
