South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun held talks with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, D.C., on the 18th (local time) to discuss key issues, including investments in the U.S. and the deployment of troops to the Strait of Hormuz.

Minister Cho stated that both sides agreed to maintain continuous communication to faithfully implement major agreements reached between the two leaders regarding investment projects in the U.S.

Minister Cho also noted, "We emphasized our government's commitment to making practical contributions alongside the U.S. and the international community to restore free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz," adding that they agreed to continue close communication on this matter.

Secretary Rubio emphasized the prompt implementation of commitments for investments in the U.S., while also stressing the importance of creating a fair, transparent, and equitable business environment for U.S. companies operating in South Korea.

Secretary Rubio further reiterated the importance of cooperation to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
