The Korea House, which serves as both a basecamp for South Korea's national sports delegation and a hub for promoting Korean culture at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, opened today (September 18).

The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) held the opening ceremony for the Korea House at Lives Nagoya in Nagoya, Japan, at 8:00 p.m. today, officially launching its 16-day operation.

Key figures from the domestic sports community attended the opening ceremony, including KSOC President Ryu Seung-min, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Choi Hwi-young, National Assembly Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee Chairperson Lee Jae-jung, Republic of Korea delegation head Lee Sang-hyun, and Korea House director Kim Hong-sik.

In addition, a large number of heavyweights from the international sports community attended to celebrate the launch of the Korea House, including Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board member Spyros Capralos, and IOC Athletes' Commission member Won Yun-jong.

The celebratory performances focused on showcasing Korea's dynamic image, where sports and culture intertwine, on the international stage.

Following a demonstration of the traditional Korean martial art taekwondo, a dazzling performance by the Korean b-boy crew "FusionMC" captivated the attendees.

KSOC President Ryu Seung-min stated, "The Korea House is a space where people meet, connect with one another, and share new experiences together. During the Games, we hope to share not only the passion of Team Korea but also the energy and diversity of Korean culture."

The Korea House will operate as a comprehensive promotion platform until October 3, one day before the closing of the Games.

During the competition period, the sports committee will take the lead in supporting the athletes' matches, organizing group cheering sessions, and spreading K-culture to local visitors.

Furthermore, the committee plans to utilize the Korea House as a key base to expand sports diplomacy networks by strengthening exchanges with figures from the international and Asian sports federations.
