The Panstar Akro, which has embarked on South Korea's first trial voyage of a container ship along the Arctic route, has arrived in Gdańsk, Poland, its final European port of call.

According to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Panstar Akro entered Gdańsk today (the 18th) and commenced operations such as unloading.

This comes five days after it arrived in Rotterdam, Netherlands, the destination of this trial voyage, on the 13th, and 27 days after setting sail from Busan Port on August 22.

The Panstar Akro, a 2,758-TEU-class container ship, departed carrying 737 TEUs of cargo including chemical products, used cars, and auto parts, along with empty containers for a total of 837 TEUs.

It is reported that the vessel will unload some of its cargo and conduct loading operations in Gdańsk.

After completing the operations, the Panstar Akro will depart from Gdańsk and return to Busan via the Arctic Ocean.

It is expected to arrive back at Busan Port around mid-next month.

The Arctic route is a maritime pathway created as the area of Arctic sea ice rapidly decreases due to climate change, drawing attention as the shortest route connecting Asia and Europe.
