President Lee Jae-myung held a press conference for the public at the Cheongwadae State Guest House.

In his opening remarks, President Lee adopted a humble posture, stating that the public's disappointment following the local elections was due to his own shortcomings and that he had failed to properly gauge the feelings of more people.

He then made it clear that seeking consecutive terms through constitutional amendment is impossible and that he has never considered serving a second term.

[President Lee Jae-myung: "Nevertheless, I take this opportunity to state once again firmly: I have absolutely no intention of serving consecutive terms."]

Regarding troop deployment to the Strait of Hormuz, he clearly stated that there will be no deployment that involves or intervenes in war.

[President Lee Jae-myung: "There is no involvement or intervention in war. We will not engage in that form of troop deployment or dispatch of military assets. We have adhered to that principle until now. That principle will remain unchanged going forward."]

However, he added a proviso that it is also clear that, just as other nations do, minimum activities must be carried out to protect merchant ships, oil transportation routes, and the lives and safety of citizens.

He also stated his position on recent issues regarding appointments, including nominee for Justice Minister Kim Seung-won.

President Lee said that while he did his best, additional issues have emerged, and it was a mistake not to have prepared for such matters, adding that he intends to re-examine the personnel vetting system.

Regarding whether to appoint Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won, he also stated, "I have not yet reached a final conclusion," adding, "I will decide carefully, taking into account the public's expectations."

In his closing remarks as well, President Lee maintained a humble stance, saying that he had failed to carefully attend to the sentiments of the people.
