President Lee Jae-myung has acknowledged shortcomings regarding personnel vetting issues that surfaced during the recent Cabinet reshuffle, admitting, "It was our shortcoming that we failed to prepare for such matters."

He also stated that he has not yet reached a final decision on whether to appoint Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won.

During a press conference held today (September 18) at the Cheong Wa Dae State Guest House, President Lee said, "While we did our best, additional issues continue to be uncovered," adding, "It is our fault for not preparing for such aspects."

"We are now looking to reexamine the personnel vetting system," he said. "While it is difficult to guarantee that no issues will ever arise perfectly in the future, we will do our utmost."

Regarding whether he will appoint Kim Seung-won as Justice Minister—whose confirmation hearing report was adopted in the National Assembly yesterday (September 17) led by the ruling party—Lee explained, "I believe we made the best possible selection in our own way, but various controversies have emerged during the public vetting process. I have not yet reached a final conclusion."

He added, "I will make a careful decision, taking into consideration public standards and expectations."
