Busan Nambu Police Station announced on the 18th that it has forwarded six suspects, including a man in his 70s identified as A, without detention on charges of fraud for posing as wedding guests to collect souvenir money and meal tickets.

Police stated that A and the others are accused of obtaining 770,000 won in cash and goods by pretending they had already handed in congratulatory money during crowded hours at the reception desks of two wedding venues in the Busan area between March and July of this year.

Police explained that they uncovered the crime by launching an investigation based on a report from a victim who grew suspicious of A.

A police official stated, "Most of the suspects had multiple previous criminal records," and urged, "If suspicious behavior is spotted at a wedding reception desk, please report it immediately to 112."
