Airing on Friday, September 18 at 8:50 p.m., SBS's "Curious Stories Y" sheds light on the mysterious murder case that unfolded at a cafe in Paju.

On September 4, a woman in her 60s who had been reported missing was found dead inside the freezer of a large cafe in Paju. The suspect is the cafe's owner, a man in his 30s surnamed Shin, who had met the victim for the first time on the day of the crime. Adding to the shock, counterfeit department store gift certificates worth a staggering 50 billion won were discovered alongside the scene.

Shin reportedly commissioned a typesetting and printing company to produce the vouchers in late July, claiming they were to be used as props for a film shoot. An acquaintance of Shin who spoke with the show's producers recalled hearing that Shin had previously engaged in voucher forgery, raising questions over whether this incident was tied to the same illicit scheme.

Suspicion of premeditation grew after it was revealed that Shin had instructed a part-time worker the day before the incident to set the freezer temperature to minus 25 degrees Celsius. However, Shin continues to deny the allegations, claiming he had no intention to kill.

Police believe the victim visited the cafe on a favor for an acquaintance working as a voucher broker and was murdered without ever understanding what was happening. What was Shin's true motive behind the 50 billion won in counterfeit vouchers and the sealed freezer?
