In connection with the controversy surrounding an elementary school student who assaulted her homeroom teacher, it has been learned that the student's parents have filed a complaint against the teacher and others on charges of child abuse.

According to police and education authorities yesterday (September 17), the parents of A, a 5th-grade student at an elementary school in Cheongju, filed a complaint with the police on September 3 against three individuals, including teacher B, the vice principal, and a fellow teacher.

It was reported that the parents claimed in the complaint that teacher B shouted at their child and refused a request to exchange a test paper.

The complaint also reportedly specified that the vice principal made remarks amounting to emotional abuse toward student A during the assault incident.

The provincial office of education is providing legal support to the accused teachers while requesting a conflict mediation service for the parents.

An official from the provincial office of education said, "We recently received a notification of a child abuse report regarding this incident from the police and administrative authorities," adding, "We are currently looking into the detailed contents, such as the purpose of the complaint."

Previously, on the morning of September 2 at 8:40, student A punched teacher B in the face and head and kicked her inside the classroom of the elementary school she attends.

The incident sparked controversy after a video of student A grabbing teacher B by the hair and assaulting her became known through media reports.

It was found that student A used profanity against teacher B, complaining that the distributed test paper was dirty, and was sent home. She then committed the assault the next day when teacher B announced that the test would be retaken.

She also continued the assault while hurling profanities at the vice principal and three to four other teachers who attempted to stop the attack.

Student A, who has been suffering from emotional anxiety, has frequently used profanity and exhibited aggressive behavior toward numerous teachers and students, and had been taking medication for bipolar disorder. However, her parents had arbitrarily discontinued her medication at the time.

Due to this incident, student A received a suspension from school, and teacher B remains on leave to this day.
