Broadcaster Jun Hyun-moo, who has officially joined SBS as a sports caster for the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games, expressed his bold determination to defend the network's number-one viewership rating.

Following his commentary roles at the Paris Olympics and the World Cup, Jun Hyun-moo steps up to the caster microphone once again. At this year's Asian Games, he will cover high jumper Woo Sang-hyeok's quest for his first Asian Games gold medal in the men's high jump, as well as recurve archery events where major gold medals are on the line.

Sharing his thoughts on joining the broadcast, Jun Hyun-moo stated, "Because so many national team athletes have endured rigorous training, I will study diligently to ensure their hard work is conveyed properly and defend our number-one viewership spot."

What Jun Hyun-moo is prioritizing most in his preparation is "entertainment" and "accessible delivery." Jun Hyun-moo noted, "There are already so many commentators who excel at traditional sports broadcasting, so I want to add an entertaining touch that draws in viewers who normally don't tune into sports. I am studying so I can explain the rules of the events in an easy-to-understand way."

Jun Hyun-moo showed particular confidence in archery commentary. "I covered idol archery for 10 years on another network's variety show," Jun Hyun-moo said. "While this is my first time doing official sports coverage, I will prepare thoroughly so it doesn't feel that way. By bringing out a level of fun and excitement unseen in standard broadcasts, I will work hard to get people who previously had no interest in archery to sit in front of the TV."

At the same time, he emphasized a commentary style that heightens the match's tension rather than relying on excessive chatter. Jun Hyun-moo explained, "Paradoxically, rather than talking a lot, I plan to select and focus. Instead of trying to be funny the whole time, I actually plan to speak less during tense moments."

He added, "I am working hard to control the pace—properly explaining terminology and conveying exhilarating moments, while holding my breath alongside the viewers during plays that truly require intense focus and suspense," previewing commentary that combines both entertainment and full immersion.

High jumper Woo Sang-hyeok is aiming for his first career Asian Games gold medal at this competition. Jun Hyun-moo will deliver the heat of the moment live from the venue for Woo Sang-hyeok's men's high jump final, along with the recurve archery events concentrated at the tournament's conclusion.

Meanwhile, SBS is set to showcase unmatched sports coverage, fielding a "caster trio" made up of Bae Sung-jae, Jung Woo-young, and Jun Hyun-moo, alongside a legendary commentary roster featuring Gu Bon-gil, Im Dong-hyun, Song Dae-nam, and Kim So-hee.

With excitement amplified by the addition of Jun Hyun-moo, the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games will kick off on Saturday, September 19, and run for 16 days through Sunday, October 4.
