Jeong Jeom-sik, floor leader of the People Power Party, said today (September 17), "The Democratic Party of Korea claimed that nominee Kim Seung-won is fit for the post because there are no grounds for disqualification, but if they push ahead with appointing Kim, who has a prior drunk driving conviction, it will only further cement this into a 'criminal cabinet with 35 convictions.'"

Speaking at a Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, Floor Leader Jeong stated, "In the current cabinet, including the president who has four prior convictions, key figures hold a combined total of 34 prior convictions."

He added sarcastically, "The nominee for Justice Minister faces allegations of solicitation and lobbying, and the nominee for Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport bought an apartment by taking out loans to the hilt ('yeongkkeul'). The nominee for Minister of National Defense is talking about abolishing his alma mater, the Korea Military Academy, and the nominee for Minister of SMEs and Startups defended the Yellow Envelope Act, an anti-business, bad law," remarking, "Even if one deliberately set out to assemble only unqualified people, putting together such an unqualified lineup would be impossible."

He particularly pointed out, "Nominee Kim's confirmation hearing was a tearful melodrama of a 'humanities brother' ('mungwa oppa'). They are pushing forward even though the majority of the public, and even the pro-government People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy, are opposed," adding, "Everyone knows that the reason behind such an unreasonable move is to drop the indictment in the president's trial."

He also criticized, "The nominees for the ministers of Defense, Finance and Economy, Land, and SMEs are all real estate speculators by the standards of the Lee Jae-myung administration," adding, "It bluntly exposes the leftist sense of entitlement that is always strict toward the public while lenient toward its own side."

He continued, "The government and the ruling party are running rampant with personnel appointments without paying any heed to the public. It is a declaration of war against the people," adding, "As always, arrogant power is bound to face judgment. The time of the 'dead duck' is approaching."
