The special counsel team led by Lee Tae-han, tasked with investigating the shortage of ballot papers during the June 3 local elections, has initiated full-scale compulsory investigations 10 days after its launch.

This morning (September 17), the special counsel team dispatched prosecutors and investigators to a total of nine locations, including the National Election Commission and local election commissions, to conduct raids.

This marks the first time the special counsel team has conducted a search and seizure since its official launch on September 7. The team is currently securing materials such as internal servers from election commission offices.

The special counsel team is investigating 12 allegations, including the shortage of ballot papers during the June 3 local elections, manipulation of voting statistics, overseas trips for sightseeing by election commission officials, preferential hiring and promotions, and preferential non-competitive contracts and collusion with businesses.
