The 46th National Para Games, held in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, concluded its six-day run with the closing ceremony held today (September 16).

The closing ceremony, held at the Jeju International Convention Center Center 2, was attended by Jung Jin-wan, President of the Korean Paralympic Committee, Wi Sung-gon, Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, and Kim Sung-jung, Vice Governor for Administration 1 of Gyeonggi Province.

A total of 9,141 participants (5,677 athletes and 3,464 officials and staff) from 17 cities and provinces nationwide, as well as an overseas Korean delegation from the United States, competed across 31 events in this year's Games.

Gyeonggi Province secured its sixth consecutive overall championship by scoring 321,694.10 total points.

Seoul placed second with 263,325.00 points, while South Chungcheong Province finished third with 180,818.50 points.

On the final day of the competition, held along the Namwon Coastal Road, Yu Byeong-hun of Gyeongbuk won the men's 10km marathon (sports class T53 and T54) with a time of 22 minutes and 8 seconds.

In the badminton women's singles (sports class WH2) final, Jeong Gyeo-ul of Jeonnam defeated Kim Yeon-shim of Jeju 2-0.

Having also won titles in the women's doubles and mixed doubles, Jeong Gyeo-ul claimed three gold medals at the Games.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award went to Cho Jung-du of Sejong, who won six gold medals and one silver medal in shooting.

Following his selection as MVP through a vote by the Korea Paralympic Committee press corps, Cho said, "I didn't expect this and I am extremely happy," adding, "I will work hard to achieve great results at the upcoming Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games."

Choe Jae-won of Gangwon, who won the men's track 4km individual pursuit (sports class DB) with a new Korean record of 4 minutes, 45.337 seconds, received the Rookie of the Year Award.

The 47th National Para Games will be held next year in Gyeonggi Province, centered around Hwaseong Special City.
