Kakao has announced a revenue target of over 6 trillion won by 2030 for Kakao AI, the entity that will handle its artificial intelligence business following a corporate split.

The company also revealed plans to demonstrate a portion of its KakaoTalk-based AI agents next October.

During an online meeting with minority shareholders on the 16th, Kim Doyoung, head of Kakao's Group Investment Strategy Office, stated that Kakao AI's revenue will be expanded from 2.7 trillion won based on 2025 to over 6 trillion won by 2030.

Among this, the revenue target for AI services is approximately 1 trillion won.

Kakao has set goals to increase the daily active users (DAU) of its AI services to 20 million and to expand KakaoTalk user engagement time by 50%.

Kakao AI will integrate AI services into existing platforms such as KakaoTalk, maps, advertising, and commerce.

The vision is to implement agentic AI that understands user intent based on conversation and usage context and connects it to actual service execution.

Jeon Hyunsoo, Kakao's Business General Leader, stated, "We plan to demonstrate several agents at the developer conference in October," adding that they will enable users to execute and complete various services directly within KakaoTalk without going through separate apps.

Jeon also revealed that an integrated membership is being prepared to connect affiliate services such as mobility, content, and commerce, centered around KakaoTalk user touchpoints.

He explained, "Our goal is to allow users to utilize benefits accumulated from using multiple services in one place," adding, "We are currently designing and verifying the business model ahead of its official launch."

Kakao plans to disclose the benefit composition and launch timing as soon as they are finalized.

Kakao stated that the integrated membership is an example showing that cooperation among affiliates can continue based on services and contracts even after the corporate split.

Along with this, Kakao expressed its intention to provide AI features as much as possible through an on-device approach operating inside smartphones to reduce privacy concerns, while expanding services by combining its proprietary large language model (LLM) with external specialized agents.

Kakao X, which will handle non-AI businesses and investment functions following the corporate split, presented a goal to achieve 10 trillion won in revenue by 2030 by growing its tech-fin, content, and mobility businesses.

It selected virtual assets, live entertainment and global fandom platforms, and robotaxis, robot trucks, and physical AI as growth sectors.
