Photos have been released showing U.S. military bases in the Middle East left in tatters following Iranian missile and drone attacks.

On September 15 local time, CBS News exclusively reported photos of U.S. military bases in the Middle East provided by active-duty service members who requested anonymity.

The photos starkly show U.S. military bases where military aircraft, armored vehicles, and buildings sustained widespread damage from Iranian airstrikes.

In an interview with CBS News, one deployed soldier said, "The reality of the U.S. military bases that suffered severe damage has not been properly communicated to the American public," adding, "We are standing here blindfolded and getting punched in the face."

Photos of Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia show a costly E-3 Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft damaged.

The tail section of this military aircraft took a direct hit and is seen separated from the heavily charred fuselage.

Other photos of the base depicting hollowed-out buildings and barracks were also released.

Photos of Camp Buehring in Kuwait, a major gathering point for U.S. Army ground forces, armored vehicles, and some fighter jets, also show barracks and military vehicles destroyed by Iranian attacks.

Camp Buehring is located in a desert area far northwest of Kuwait City, the capital of Kuwait.

CBS News also released photos of damaged buildings at Camp Arifjan, another U.S. military base in Kuwait.

Earlier on September 14, the Pentagon Inspector General's office submitted a special report to the U.S. Congress, officially tallying the scale of losses at U.S. military bases in the Middle East for the first time.

According to the report, between February 28, when the war broke out, and June 30, Iranian attacks caused equipment losses amounting to 3.7 billion dollars (approx. 5.048 trillion won), including 60 U.S. military aircraft.

During the ongoing war between the United States and Iran, hundreds of buildings and structures inside U.S. military bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, and Jordan were damaged or destroyed.
